Joan Hollis Atwell Live~Reporting from the Union Parish Library in Farmerville, La..Depression era continues to be discussed and it's effects on life in rural north Louisiana~(Part 2) with empasis on old BARN BOARDS in display and other artifacts..
Stephanie Herman's children tell what kind of books they enjoy reading.
.
And last Atwell does something she shys away from and has never done before except on one other video, "U.S. War through the Eyes of an Army Wife." Joan lets you see a gliimpse into the REAL world of her past..The past of just some of her pain and heartache.
This heartache was eased greatly for her daddy Jack Holllis for several by the help of the Union Parish library. He was ridden with r. arthritis and couldn't turn the pages of his books he loved for as long as he wanted to... She is so very thankful to them for the "world of westerns" that he was able to escape into... away from his pain and misery for just a little while..
And lastly Joan lets YOU, her subscribers and friends be the first to know what may be about to happen next.. Will she do it?..Will she get the help she needs to accomplish this project safely?..Will her family stand behind her this time or do as they ususal do and tell her to, "Leave it alone and don't rock the boat.." What will the community say? Will Joan be tearful and report on this too? What will happen on Joan's agenda after all of this?

The big whammy is yet to come.. Is Union Parish ready or ...will it ever be...Stay tuned for more... .

  • great post*****

  • Great reporting Joan!!!!!

  • You are really getting into this, Joan. I used to do a lot of story-telling and singing in libraries over here where the written word started Hee-hee!

It was a great fun as I could get the audience to make a noise without being 'Shushed!' Mind you libraries are not like churches nowadays - come to think of it churches aren't like libraries either! Hallelujah!

  • Glad I came by to hear this interesting conversation Joan. Thank you for sharing!!!--Lee
