@scavenger1975 yes, when the airspeed was reduced to around 80 kts the captain disconnected the autopilot and took manual control over the nosewheel steering to vacate the runway

@101HeyNow the L1011 was the first plane with autoland, i was one of the test pilots for certification.......md83 isnt that old.

I love flying on DC9s/MD-80s, but that 3-panel front windscreen buggers all. Each of the posts are rather close to the PIC/co-pilot's line of sight. Other'n that, fun plane to fly on.
