No gas in a TV, the screen is pressurized and has a vacume. When broke the air rushes in. You are qute safe

OMG aren't you afraid of shocking yourself? CRTs can hold a charge that can throw you across the room even when they were off for a long time.

We normaly stack the tellies up till we have a few and then take them apart, so we dont get shocked

I don't break the glass, I just loosen the two clamps and wiggle the cone off....

@LucifersDisciple6 Cathode Ray Tubes. All those big old TV's and monitors are CRT's, as opposed to flat screens.
