Filmed this while at the Beijing Airport. Some pretty funny moments involving sick pigs and strange translations.
Sorry about the poor audio quality, the television volume was unchangeable...

  • BTW this was a video in airports going from america to china.

  • No worries =p. Need to point out, though, that the Japanese kanji for country and continent are *almost* the same as the Simplified Chinese characters: 国 for country and 州 (Japanese) / 洲 (Chinese) for continent. Ironically, it's the character for America that differs between the two languages (beautiful 美 vs. rice 米, though you probably know that already). That said, Japanese these days almost never refer to the continent using the kanji anymore, so I'll cut you some slack :)

  • @unflocondeneige My mistake. I guess that's what happens when you try to read Chinese when you've studied Japanese.

  • Actually, the video specifically referred to Meizhou "美洲" (the American *continent*) instead of Meiguo "美國" (the American *country*). It's the SECOND character (continent or country) that makes all the difference, not the first one which means beautiful.

  • i saw that in an airplane in china xD

  • saw it in the same airport and at the same time!

  • Last week I was waiting at Shanghai Pu Dong Airport for about 4 hours. This Video came on a screen like this all 5 Minutes. I wanted to destroy the television....

  • oh well, many flus have been called Hong Kong or attributed to China. Maybe the U.S. has to take a turn.

  • No, they mean USA. I don't know much Chinese, but the characters in the subtitles say America as in the US. But at least those characters still mean "The beautiful country"

  • I'm so glad you posted this! I saw this in Beijing and had a lot of trouble capturing it on camera. Absolutely great.
