AMV - Shadows (Dark Moon)

A serious Cowboy Bebop AMV, profiling Spike and Julia. The silhouettes throughout the video are meant to represent the shadows of Spike's past. This is another one of silver_moon's AMVs; it appears she's fairly underrepresented on youtube, so I'm trying to correct that. The song is "Spin", by Lifehouse. This is how you cut an AMV.

It might sound like a bad philosophy but I feel a good AMV tells a story, not always that of what the anime or original source tells, but to tell, or convey something possibly totally different from what the source was doing.

We've all seen the source, what's the point of telling the same story twice. And AMVs that are just a random collage of clips are even worse.

But this, I feel this AMV did tell a little story. I felt some heart there.

Not my work. That having been said, my philosophy is that there are three different things an amv can do:

-Entertain, through entertaining sync and effects.

-Show the footage and/or audio in a new context, one that may or may not match what the original creator had in mind.

-Convey a deeper message, one that's dependent on the viewer's inspiration.

A good AMV should do the first item. An amv that does the second item has depth. An amv that does the third can be considered a work of art.

I'm highly impressed with this amv. The effects and scene cuts were perfect. The song and the way it was presented were awesome. It wasn't just flashy amv without substance like so many out there. Well done.

I wasn't referring to the average output so much as the organization; to be precise, the customizable lists on the top rated, top reviewed and most favorited videos plus an entire subforum dedicated to personal recommendations.

cowboy bebop's anime is still better than a lot of the newer stuff, i agree, after seeing some of dark moons stuff she is underrepresented on utube
