Instructional video. Steklåt från Särna, on Swedish bagpipes.

A "steklåt" ("steak tune") is a tune (usually a march) intendend to be played on large dinner parties (e.g. a wedding celebration), when the main course is carried in and served.

  • does it has a natural reed?

  • @TheValkoooo Yes, Arundo donax. The traditional material is Phragmites australis (Arundo does not grow in Sweden), but Arundo is more reliable.

  • what does a sackpiepa cost round about?

  • @Comediantrumpet A bagpipe by the Swedish makers costs 4000-8000 SEK. There are makers in your country too, but I don't know their prices. Check with the Sackpfeifenbau site. I'm coming to Germany (Mecklenburg) to give a workhop in December, by the way. There will be makers there too.
