The Olympic Resistance Network has called for a convergence to protest the Vancouver Winter Olympics. This video explains some the reasons why these activists have organized the first ever anti-Olymopic summit.
In a perfect world, there would be no need for policing, but again we don't live in a perfect world. The laws that govern us are there for our protection, the judges merely uphold those laws.
We are not in a class society anymore, anyone can rise above their supposed station. I would rather live in a country that can provide that than to live in a country where you would be jailed for attempting it.
I live in the U.K. too and I can tell you we are not free. Our rights were given away to the european union last year to an unelected president. We are no longer a democracy not that we ever were in reality.
Also we are not sovereign individuals as the queen lays claim to our sovereignty and any Judge in the country can dictate the outcome of your life. That too me is not freedom. We could choose to ignore all of this and claim our freedom back but one would have to know the law inside out.
Everyone should be free, Communism is the best form of government... two examples of what would work in a perfect world. We don't live in one, so while some people are dissatisfied with what their country gives to them, I'm grateful to live in a country that respects my rights.
I'm not told I'm free, I know I am. "A truly free society" will never occur as human nature will always interfere. It's why Communism can never work in reality, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I don't understand why people protest the Olympic Games, doing so only increases the money spent on security. So by protesting that funds are being diverted from the homeless (which I do admit is a problem), you're hurting your own cause.
The escalation of violence during one protest was the fault of the protestors, not the police. The Olympic Games is about unity, protest before the Olympics, but during you should be proud to live in a country that grants you the freedom you scorn.
obamastolemycar please go away your an idiot thank you...obviously uneducated Im not sure why you think that YOU are better than others so please do us a favour and just go away...

Why should freedom have to be granted? If we are truly free people we should not need to be allowed to be or told we are free.
A truly free society does not need to be told it is free it would be self evident.
