His strong hands had left bruises on my skin once before
Shades of blue and purple decorating my waistline

"But. It. Hurts." I said to no one but the stereo
Who replied, simply, with Tool's "Prison Sex"
It sickly made such sense

He grunted a bit
I fought to not let go of my tears

"Pain is weakness leaving the body," he said breathlessly
I refused to cry, so I laughed,
"I'm breathing, so I guess I'm still alive,
Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise."
