Laurie wrote this song in 1985, thinking of a dear friend of hers who had just gone through a bitter divorce. I believe his name was Charles Sawtelle. It's an achingly beautiful song with wonderful harmony. That's Kate Brislin, Tim O'Brien (also playing the nice mandolin), and Tony Marcus with that rich bass voice.
