Michael Ehrlich's signature closing piece for all W.T. Woodson choral events: Joyce Eilers Bacak's "Irish Blessing." This was W.T. Woodson High School's Select Vocal Ensemble performing at Fairfax County's Candelight Vigil for National Crime Victims Week, April 13, 2008, after a 15-hour bus ride from a Chicago competition, and an extremely emotional event. especially having just heard the father of a Virginia Tech victim speak.

  • well, we were all very emotional that day. The students had just been listening to some very powerful testimony from crime victims, families of Virginia Tech casualties. I'm surprised they made it through it!

  • slow down near the down times but speed up just before the climaxes then hold it!! better than sex!!! i LUV this cord work in it!!!

  • Every year for a number of years, Mrs. Tommey at Hardaway High in Columbus, Georgia did this song at our Baccalaureate Service. It's deffinately a timeless classic. My only suggestions would be to slow the tempo way down, a little more tenor on the upon your face part, and Sapranos, watch the pitch. It's hard to think about while you are in the moment though. Nice performance, not too bad.

  • He does this every year ... says goodbye to another class, all incredibly brilliant and unique and ... BLESSED ... for heaven's sake. You guys all sound so good. I love this Irish blessing ...

  • mr. ehrlich was crying before we even started this song. that entire ceremony was really sad.

  • I didn't cry until the end camera sweep to the sky.... <3 .
