Did the sun originate in Sagittarius? (a galaxy that wraps around and is slowly being swallowed up by the Milky Way)
Is it just a COINCIDENCE that our solar system happens to lie directly in the path of where Sagittarius penetrates the Milky Way?
Why does our system oscillate up and down through the galactic plane (disc) as it orbits around the Milky Way? The standard behavior would be to simply orbit around the Milky Way.
It doesn't. It oscillates, suggesting that it became traped in the Milky Way and now behaves erratically.
It orbits the Milky Way but not normally. It behaves just as a system that that once moved orthogonally relative to the galactic plane of the Milky Way.
