Back in 2002 I attempted to build my very first robot. It never really worked, but it was that one great educational experience that started my career in robotics.

  • simply amazing! can you say me where can i find motors??

  • Google?

  • why use chains??? Just add the servo to the wheel...

  • servos aren't powerful enough, and my motor needed to be geared down . . .

  • That is the sad disadvantage of servos. They are no where near as powerfull as motors are.

But servos can be set to any set speed threw the microcontroller instead of readjusting the voltage level to the motor.

  • But . . . servos have DC motors in them. =P

  • when you hade the tracks coming off why didnt you use a stronger marerial that you can pull to make the tread titer

any way im making a 2 legged robot which is a farly easy thing to do type in on this site 2 legged robots and a bunch will come up just copy one of them and also did you use Ultrasonic range finders to track the man or did you use obsticle avoder sesors and make it do the exact opposite or maybe did you use something else tell me if you did anything else to the robot

  • tightten your chain

  • I like your design. I;m building a robot similar. I'm using a powerful engine that will make it go up to speeds of 30 mph. almost too fast. I just needed some designs for my wheels and how they will work. I think I'll try something similar to yours.

  • Yes but they are controlled differently.

A DC Motor has two pins for + and - voltage input.

A Servo has three pins for +, -, and input.

The input is of course the input for the microcontroller.

  • sorry smart ass! lol joking sorry i meant motor but i get servo and motor confuse i thought you could of added the wheel to the motor... wasn't thinking its late here. lol sorry.
