A basic repair guide for your Bally or Stern pinball lamp driver board used from 1977-83 in Bally and Stern pinball machines. There are several flavors of the lamp board used in the Bally/Stern pinball machines of that time, but they all operate the same way and can be repaired with these instructions. This guide is not all inclusive, but shows the most common problem these boards have when one or a few controlled lamps are not functioning. This video assumes you know how to do basic soldering.
Terms Used
GI = General Illumination. These lamps are always lit on your pinball machine.
Controlled Lamps = Lamps that are turned on and off during game play or while the game is in attract mode.
Transistor = Transistors are commonly used electronic control devices. There are many different types.

Awesome thanks for the vid!
I am restoring my High-Speed Pinball from 1986 and some of the lights don't light up.
Watching this video I think I might have some bad light controllers on my board?
I am new to repairing these machines and I am in the process of restoring my High-Speed back to like new.
I had to repair it due to a lot of things not working right and it needs a a lot of cleaning too.
