Original Sunday Game Theme Tune

The classic Sunday Game theme tune.

Forget the Oxygen festival, this is the real sound of the summer in Ireland.

Scrapped by RTE in what they referred to as 'modernisation' of the Sunday Game, the move proved deeply unpopular with the public and after numerous campaigns, a remastered version returned in 2008 and is the current intro theme.

The original theme however remains a fond favourite of a generation and as universal a shared Irish memory as you will ever find.

Yeah tradition shouldn't be sacred for tradition's sake but getting rid of this was madness.

I'd agree with that. From the interviews at the time I got a sense of real contempt for the ordinary GAA public. All that was old and traditional was bad. The absolute shit they replaced it with. Some muppet with a media degree trying to make his mark no doubt.
