A brief history of Oakland Cemetery's Jewish sections. It features historic images, present-day footage, and an interview with Mr. Norman Asher, Historic Oakland Foundation Board Member.
Interesting, thanks. I love Oakland Cemetery. I was taking some pictures there last week and was near the entrance. A redheaded boy came running up to me and asked me if I worked at the cemetery. I told him no, and then, he asked if I knew where the Jewish section was. I did. I told him down the hill on the left. He yelled to his family and they all went off in search of the Jewish section. Nice video.
Of course this was before the Leo Frank trial of 1914 in which Anti-Semitism ran so high in Georgia that ONE-FOURTH of Georgia's Jews left the state.
