  • The theme is indebted to a violin technique where an open string accompanies a melody played on other strings. It comes from Bach who himself was inspired to translate it into the keyboard medium--and often in minor just like the Oldfield--as evidenced by the passage beginning at 2:48 in this harpsichord concerto:

    watch?v=8-KyL2gMxV8

Numerous other examples of this effective technique being employed in this and the other Bach harpsichord concertos exist. Mike was smart to employ it here.

  • 5:39 Pure classic!!

  • ¡uauuuuuuu!

  • right there at 2:52 just when you think it can't get any better,...it does

  • Bought my first copy of TB more than 30 years ago. Still it´s my absolute favourite only to be compared to other Oldfield classics such as Amarok, TBII, Taurus II, Music of the Spheres an a few more. Tunes that I can hear in my head. Always with pleasure.

  • Excelent version

  • :-)))))

  • Wow, that bass sound!
