The Sri Lanka Navy celebrated the triumph over LTTE terrorism in the Mullaitivu sea while the Army joined in the celebrations in the Mullaitivu coast.

Our Representative Jayantha Pallewela said the Navy posed a massive obstacle to the tigers. In 2007, the Navy sank eight large LTTE weapons ships which were floating armouries. The Navy not only obstructed the illegal weapons from entering the country but provided support for the ground troops as well. Today, they have been able to eliminate the entire sea tiger force. The celebration of defeating Prabhakaran and his terrorist outfit was held in the sea beyond the Farah-3 ship, on Fast Craft. Northern Commander Rear Admiral Somatilake Dissanayake and his fleet came from the North while the Deputy Commander of the East Commodore Udawatte and his fleet came from Trincomalee. They met in the sea in front of the Farah-3 ship. It was an emotional moment and the officers embraced and congratulated each other.
