Schwanengesang, D 957 - No.4 Ständchen, by Austrian composer Franz Schubert.

Taken from the soundtrack of the 'La Corda d'Oro' anime. The charactrer in the video, Hihara Kazuki, played this for the Third Selection Concours.

I just happened upon this piece when searching for a trumpet piece to be played at my dear friend's funeral. He was a great tenor and a trumpeter as well, so a song from Schubert's posthumously published Schwanengesang song cycle seemed very fitting. I later discovered it was originally written for baritone voice and piano, but it's extremely effective with trumpet. Thank you very much for posting this! It's exactly the kind of beautiful and solemn piece that I was searching for.

@njtenor I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I really shouldn't be accepting any credit for posting this song, considering I didn't play it and am just sharing a piece someone else played ... but I'm glad you've found a fitting piece to play at your friend's funeral. It really is a beautiful song that sounds wonderful in trumpet, and I'm sure your friend's loved ones would really appreciate it. Again, my condolences.

when kazuki playes this all wrong in the third selection, you could really his pain and inner chaotic state...amazing...but still, a wonderful piece of music...5 stars kazuki!

Makes me wish I had learned trumpet. (I learned flute in 6th grade, but I constantly wish I'd learned trumpet or saxophone as well.)
