It appears as though there is a YouTube flute competition, so I thought I would enter, and see what happens.

When I was writing this tune, I was thinking of wandering through a foreboding desert, walking up and down the dunes, with the wind whipping up the sand, just to let it down again a few moments later. The winds can become quite strong, enough so to drive the sand into your skin painfully...

Tell me what you think of the piece, constructive criticism is always welcome:)

  • Beautiful composition my friend

  • Thank you:) Question for you. They changed the site all around, and now I don't know how to check for comments on my videos. Do you know how?:)

  • Bravo! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! =)

  • Thank you:) I did have a good Thanksgiving, and I hope you are having a good holiday season as well:)

  • Your song is very sorrowful, and I can feel the chill. Felt like the desert at night, making me uneasy, bravo!! But sometimes your tone and your playing are hesitated and unstable. Although your tone is squeezed and thin, but it works very well for this kind of song.^^

I wrote a Somewhere Over the Rainbow Variation for flute for division II, but my theory teacher disapproved and said it was rubbish, and I have other school shows coming up in school. So I will pass this time.

  • Having trouble finishing my comment, and getting it to post. I would post your variation, if I were you. Division II is about creativity, or so it says on the Band Director website. if the theory teacher doesn't like it, maybe that's a good sign;) If you do end up posting it, let me know so I can hear it.

  • Very well done. your description about the tone of the song was on key i could see my self in the desert. your playing was very good. i would have enjoyed to hear a few more notes from the lower resgister but not too much because then it would have taken away from the desert aladen feel u still get a 5 from me. you should put the music up for this i too am a flute player

  • great job i liked the beginning

can you write me the notes ??

  • HAhaha look at his face when he talks

  • great job. id like the notes if possible thats a great song. :)

  • great

  • jajaja, it does match the ur description :P

  • would like the notes if at all possible

  • I think you should play with more dynamic contrast, and add some variation to your vibrato. It stays at the same level throughout the piece. Also, some of the attacks on your notes seems a bit weak.

    just my 2 cents

  • grat. good gob
