My parents use to square dance to this tune. The purchased a 45 RPM record when I was about 6 years old or so (1961) or so. I grew-up with this record, played it over and over and over. My mother (88 years old now), still has that same record in her pile of old square dance records her and dad use to dance to. Ahhh... the memories! I still love this song after all these years. Thanks for posting this wonderful memory!

@TheJanka51 Couldn't agree more. There is another version on YouTube that leaves out the dog barking. I am looking for that version now. The barking is very annoying and detracts from the song. I'd bet the version without the dog comes later. Probably not even Patti wanted the dog.

I listened to this song as a kid, and I also remember watching Patti Page sing it on TV. I loved hearing the little dog barking....
