This is a tutorial on how to set up network shares for your WD TV LIVE. It took me a while of messing around to figure it out, and it does not clearly state how to do this in the book(at least not in my version). Please note: I set this up with Windows 7 professional x64, if you have a different system, it might be a little different setting this up.

I hope this helps you guys that need help out.

  • Thanks for the video! When I'm selecting my content source (@ 4:20), I am only able to select Windows or Linux. I select Windows but then it gets stuck. I don't have a SMB/CIFS or NFS option. Would you happen to know where I can go from here?

  • Ok before I try this, I have some questions. 1.) Why in the world would you turn streaming off? Would that not screw up any other streaming you are doing to any other devices? 2.) When you clear permissions like that and set new ones, is it just for that particular folder, or for all of them in general? I don't wanna screw up something else here just to share a freaking folder on this WD.

Thanks in advance for your time man! :)

  • What do you recommend for sharing pictures and music along with the videos? Do you create two additional folders? i.e. a Music folder and a Pictures folder and do the same steps with those?

  • I love the way you say on! <3 <3

  • @LAWLoROFL Also, to actually move the task bar from bottom to top, regardless of the theme, just richt-click in an open spot, and uncheck "Lock the taskbar". You can then click and drag it to any side of the screen (or resize it). Then be sure to check Lock again so you don't accidently move it again.

  • The reason "Media Streaming" should be "off", is because it is misleading, it is a network almost specifically for Windows Media Player.

  • You say "on" weird. Lol
