Neuroscientists have discovered a specific example of how meditating can give you the ability to notice things that non-meditators can't: When you're concentrating on something and miss something else that should be obvious, that's the attentional blink. New research shows that meditators can avoid this gap in perception.
all i have to do now is quit my job and meditate with crossed legs for 12 hours a day for 3 months. EASY!!!

I think meditation works by training our "inhibition-neurons" to work better, hence reducing noise; by reducing the signal propagation (or multiplication of noise) caused by each neurons when it communicate with others. Each neurons has thausand of connection with thausand of other neurons, so, when one signal arrive, it was multiplied thousand of times. -So we can see how important it is to at least damp this signal before it 'blew up the light bulb'.

I spend lots of free time in the woods in Canada. I put physical distance between me and my stressors, other humans. It works every time, and after just a few hours, I am ready to put up with people for a whole week before I need to escape to the desert, again.
