Two of the greatest chess players in the early 1900's did battle in what is considered by many to be Lasker's finest performance. We discuss what made this game so great and why Capablanca was unable to make anything happen.

  • great game!! specially at the end. capablanca did some good move in the end.but lasker was far better.his main strength was that he stuck to his plan. And i really appreciate the move when lasker didn't take the pawn at d6 by his rook. that could free the capa's knight and could change the game.if i was there i'd hav taken that pawn..that's why m nt there. lolz.. & people who are saying that they could hav done better.remember guys if u could hav done better u wud hav been dere instead of capa.

  • at 24:37 why didnt that idiot casablanca go knight c7

  • @CaraBrimleyRules Having more subscribers does not necesssarilly mean better, it means more exposure, or even other factors. Thats like saying that lady gaga is better than everybody else out there just cause she is more popular.

They're not mispellings, they're typos. And, having expressed criticism does not make me disgraceful. You, on the other hand, calling my valid critiques "disgraceful", makes you, in fact, the disgrace.

  • @kokimbo Yes Kevin is brilliant. Mato is OK, but Kevin has 20x the number of subs. You Tube chess public has decided that Kevin is better than Mato.

Therefore I am right and you are wrong.

In fact, your comments about Kevin are disgraceful. You have shown yourself up badly and you can't spell either. It's only because Kevin is such a gent, he hasn't kicked your arse out of here.

  • @CaraBrimleyRules And no, Kevin is not brilliant, nor does he have talent for commentary. Thats why i suggested a broadcasting class. If you think thats; talent, then you probably don't knwo what that is. Now Mato Jelic is a man with true talent for commentary.

  • @CaraBrimleyRules 1. No reason to be ashamed of myself for having an opinion, nor is anyone required to have any videos up in order to have one either. Thats like me telling you to be ashamed of yourself for not liking my opinion. You are within your right just as I am within mine.

  • @kokimbo Rubbish comment. Kevin Butler is brilliant & has a real talent for commentary like JRobi. Kevin can also commentate from the point of view of the typical improving player 1700-2000, explaining ideas in simple terms and in such a way those players can learn to make better moves rather than get weighed under with concepts beyond them.

Just like the typical You Tube troll you have no videos of your own, You should be ashamed of yourself and delete your stupid criticism of Kevin.

  • I think that people forget that a century ago ... chess was not like now : players didn't have computers aso ... so they were mostly counting on their experiences and some books they could find .

I do respect those players a bit more than champions of today :)

  • 18:10 Why didnt capablanca take on g5 with his pawn ?

  • @kokimbo Everybody has a preference, I think kevin style is really good, and the 'talking' is usually what teaches the most, saying why certain move wouldn't work is very important. Don't try to change his way of doing the analysis based on what you prefer, that's selfish and disrespectful. Sorry if I offended you.

  • Lasker's pretty underated for someone that was undisputed WCC for 27 years.

  • @thechesswebsite Yur voice is annoying, and your speaking style is very "dude-ish". If intending to act as a commentator, a class of broadcasting, would be benefitial. Also, you spend too much time talking instead of showing us the game. You should learn from Mato, who's videos on Fisher are not only educational, ut concise, short, and narrated with a pleasant voice and manner.

  • helo chesswebsite. is it a master who is commenting the game? is it possible that he is not that precise in his analyse? cause at 18.29, the commentator says that black gives up a pawn for gaining a good position for his knight. but what i see, is that black will gain the pawn 4 moves later back. after checking the king on e5, and taking the pawn on h4, black will be able to just gain the g4 pawn. or am i missing something?

  • Good, but some things are just plain wrong that you say. You say that it's very common to exchange the bishop on c6 when it is not, it's very rare.

  • 14:20 why not black move knight to b6 and allowing bishop to move to c8 next move to put pressure on knight?

  • ooh, I don't like to see Capablanca lose. Oh well, he was probably not even near his best when he played this game. The games I've been by Capablanca, damn, the guy was a beast. On the other side Lasker is another player I admire a lot, so it's all good.

  • too long video

  • at 20:18 black could've still brought knight to c4-->e5.

  • i love your videos man thanks

  • great explanation! thank you so much for these vids, I've watched them all now! please upload more :)

  • Ba8 wasnt pointless, it prepared Ra7 =P

  • the best chess blog on you tube, good job man

  • Kevin, you seem like you'd be awesome to play in chess lol. Would enjoy a game sometime. Even though I'd get annihilated =D

  • in my opinion, Rd7 at 11:33 was the bigger mistake than Rd8 the previous move.

  • at 2:38, after Bd7, the doubled c pawns will protect from pawn storms from white.
