Sk8 The Hood

Urlybird
Filmmakers Rodney Nesbitt and CJ Jones are currently students at Morgan State University who started Urlybird in late 2004 as a way to express the Urlybird skaters' need for freedom and to help showcase their talents. The name itself has an ironic meaning and stands for Urban Rides Like You or the "urlybird" gets the worm. Since their movement started the main focus has always been placed on telling the story of the skaters. These skaters are who make Urlybird the only real urban skateboard team.

This film is a short developed while producing their feature length film, Skate the Hood. Skate The Hood puts on film the pain, struggle, hardships, and dreams of Urlybird's skaters. It draws its inspiration from the underground culture that supports both the urban community and the skateboard world. Although the two societies may seem so different there are people who balance both. Please enjoy a glimpse into skating the hood.
