Airing September 13th, 2000, this is the premiere of the Canadian version of WWTBAM. To qualify, you had to play the old phone game (5 fastest finger questions), then go into the draw, then get picked in a regional draw (which, if memory serves, gave 4 spots to Ontario, 2 to Quebec, 1 to Atlantic Canada and 1 to Western Canada, along with two alternates). $2 a call - $24 later I didn't even get in the draw :)
Pamela Wallin hosts. It lasted two episodes* (as it was only scheduled to do those as 'pilots' I suppose). CTV broadcast it against the Sydney Olympics. I was told that CTV was going to bring it back in February 2002, build a set in Toronto, the whole nine yards, put it up against the Salt Lake City Olympics, but by then the US primetime version wasn't getting the ratings anymore, would soon be cancelled, and besides, I was told, that CTV wasn't willing to pay the licensing fee from the North American rights holders (Disney Corp.)
In any case, enjoy. No challenge to ownership of this program. I merely celebrate the show's awesomeness.
Side note: The second player also appeared on a French-Canadian show called "Ultimatum" and the US version of "Jeopardy!".
Oh, and by the way, the show might have been taped in New York, but it's a Canadian game show and thus winnings are tax free free free!
*Gunther Jauch, host of the German version of Millionaire made fun of this when I told him at a taping in November 2009. Such is life!

I love how it's Canadian, but the intro background still has a flyby of the Statue of Liberty. XD Shoulda been the CN Tower.

I wonder if Canada will ever have a decent game show again. The Canadian "Deal or No Deal" only lasted five episodes. How could Howie do that to his fellow Canadians, lol? The show was okay, but I started getting sick of it after a while. The Canadian "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?", hosted by Colin Mochrie, only lasted a week as well. He's a better host than Jeff Foxworthy, that's for sure.
