Funny to see that the german squad sings the old german song "Heil dir im siegerkranz" ..very sad, that most of the english people don't know, that "their" national anthem is a german song in the original... PS: great goal by lampard, everybody saw it ,from wladiwostok to kansas, unfortunately the referee didn't! But ur shitty "three lions" don't count anymore in football!

I guess it depended on all those royal families across Europe which were related to each other, so others used this anthem as well, but each with different lyrics.
Anyway, the British anthem is my favourite right after the German anthem.

@Lintflas It was also the Austrian and Russian anthems as well. However, the original is British and the other 3 countries copied it.

Jorgen Kingsmann is another wonderful, broad-spirited athlete! Nice to see him singing "God Save the Queen". The British team owes him an "Einigkeit Recht und Freiheit!"
