World AIDS DAY, 2011, A Remembrance
This was my last public dance performance.
In regard to Spirituality and Quantum mechanics, two lives, in parallel universes, separated by a thin, invisible veil of Time and Space, yet out-of-sync, dancing the same solo and unseen.
My dear friend, Patrick Kinser died in the first wave of the epidemic in 1982. In this piece I am physically aged and he has not. Dancing two solos Immemorially in the Present.
Simeon this is such a moving performance. Beautiful!!

My uncle, chicano painter Carlos Almaraz, died in the 80's too. When my artist auntie Elsa married him, I was fascinated by them both. I didn't understand why no one would talk about his illness back then. Soon he was gone. She dealt with the loss of him & of her own identity, trying to keep his memory alive, while trying to stay true to herself as a painter. She's re-emerged & re-immersed herself into her art. This dance is like a part of their story that can't be put into words. moving...
