Metamorphic Force was a 1993 arcade game made by Konami. It is a side scrolling Beat 'em up game. The game engine is believed to be modified from the X-Men arcade game with a brighter color palette. The game's four main characters, Ban, Max, Claude and Ivan, are able to morph into anthropomorphic beasts by collecting a golden statue power-up. When the player collect a statue when already in Beast Mode, the character performs an attack which destroys all onscreen enemies.

  • @AmvNational You're welcome!

  • Wow... Power Rangers meet Altered Beast haha.

Seems like an alright game, but the characters don't seem that great at all, although the wolf guy looks kind of cool. Music sounds pretty fitting and nice.

  • Power Rangers meet Altered Beast, You know all the metaphors. lol

  • Looks better than the x-men game.

  • It was released one year after the x-men games.

  • @ScheissNUssen You'd be surprised how well Konami's "Rebirth" games are doing, despite them having Retro-style graphics.

  • Now why the fuck can't they make games like this for the Playstation 3 Network, instead of a bunch of crap with horrible graphics?

  • I loved this game 1 of the best beat 'em ups ever release

  • @narox It didn't. But boy, did it come close!

  • lol @ the animations.

the practiced eye can see a lot of Konami style "art reuse" in this game, even though the had to redraw the sprites for the new characters. many of the moves and animations in this game are carbon copied from Konami's X-Men 2/4/6-player arcade. the beast mode kill-all attack for example ... Nightcrawler's health move.

Also really funny to see the Golden Axe parody in here. Little dude with a flashing bag that drops power ups when he gets smacked ... classic.

  • Yeah you can play this game over kaillera. I found this game a couple years back, and it is really fun. I like that you can stomp fallen enemies, and the jumping/running attacks are very fluid compared to some other beat'em ups, which really separates the good from the bad.

I doubt this game would sell on a current console, mainly due to the graphics, and overall style of the game. Most gamers would be too superficial to look past things like that and see the great gameplay in this game.

  • You have to give Konami credit for making some of the best ones of these side-scrolling beat-'em-ups! Large, colorful animated sprites with alot of voice samples were typical of their games. I have quite a few of the original pcb's of these games. I really like this one, Cowboys of Moo Mesa, Bucky O'hare, and Sunset Riders. Oh, and the TMNT games are pretty awesome, too,

  • the music of this game is awesome
