SAD TRUTH: The ever-shrinking American consumer will be unable to pay $30K for the Volt when a Focus costs half of that price. I've done the math and it would take over 100,000 miles to pay for the difference. Sorry, another domestic failure. $20K would be pushing it.

Be serious, you guys cant have it both ways. GM's effort is the most serious effort toward zero gas vehicle, and you think its a lie? What gives. We all know (including GM) that oil prices are not coming down. If you really want to use the name "liveoilfree", support this effort.

Excellent! I was skeptical about GM taking this project seriously, but now we see Volt mules driving around and GMs plans on partially shutting down and retooling Hamtramck (for the purpose of Volt production), things are really looking up.
The thing that bothers some of us, though, is the fact that GM can use NiMH if they wanted, and the car would be very cheap and able to be produced today. But it seems GM wants to invest in future technology, which I now think may be a wiser move.
