Weighing about three pounds, it's a little heavy, but still less then a tent. I took me a while to make it, I'm not proficient with a sewing machine, but I made do. I used three and a half yards of canvas, three yards of mesh, one 100'' zipper, and 75' or so of rope. It's far from perfect but it works. The next one I'm going to make less wide and less mesh. If you have any ideas let me know!

  • i like your video about this hammock. As iam making one too. this information saves me leaning the loop hole/pit falls of making them. you should braid or plait the ends or splice very simple and would finish yours off being so nicely built up till then i thought it was shop brought.. job well done . will show mine when finished, by the way check out my videos esp wanna die laughing. by mrshanoz

  • @MrShanoz Thank you, this was the first of three now. As soon as the weather is nice I'm going to make a video of the other two, alot of improvements on them, and the rain cover I made. Possibly some of the packs I've whipped up. Look forward to seeing your work

  • great job, I seen you used 4 lengths of line, is this for strength?

  • @Russelljmagyar initially that's what the idea was, but it was little over kill. I'm pretty sure a baby elephant can hang in this.

  • i use the ridgeline from my tarp to double as my bugnet ridgeline also. my eno double wide is about the same as yours. i use the excess to wrap around me like a blanket when its to hot for a sleeping bag but to cool for not. nice job for your first try. now you know what to do or not do next time. thats a vicious wild cat you have there. lol

  • @FixedByDoc I'll have to try the ridge line when I finish the tarp, and wait till you see the ten pound fluff balls, they scare the sales men away.

  • Thats nice, when You make another one could i have that one? i'm a larger guy myself and can't afford one that'll hold me TY Carlton

  • Build a bridge hammock you can turn that one into a bridge hammock for poles go to the thrift store and get old crutches they are lightweight alumunium and will more than handle it I bet you could figure a way to adjust the pole with the leg extensions. I weigh 340 and need a hefty hammock too. I was able to locate one that fit buy it is still tight but will do should I find myself outdoors beats the ground.

  • @Pir8AdventureLeague lol remember i have 2 big dogs. so make them meow loud enough for the camera. my dogs go crazy when they hear animals on tv. lol

  • @usframe It's over 9 feet long so It should be long enough for the Jolly Green Giant! Weight wise around 275 I think is a nice sturdy base. I'm going to also put some pockets on the under side for gear.
