Cashmere was found in the backyard of a Whiskers volunteer after becoming lost or abandoned. No one realized that Cashmere was pregnant at first, because she was so thin. Whiskers found her a foster home where she could have her kittens, but soon Cashmere gave birth to just one premature kitten who didn't survive. Cashmere was devastated by the loss of her only kitten. She was so distraught that we decided to introduce her to a little orphaned boy, Jonah, who had been rescued from the jaws of a Rottweiler at the tender age of 3 weeks. It was love at first sight -- Jonah immediately purred and wanted to nurse, and the spark came back into Cashmere's eyes. She took her adopted kitten, held him in a firm embrace and began to lick him all over. It was a bitter-sweet transformation, but now Cashmere and Jonah share a very special bond.
When Jonah was about two months old, we decided he should have a playmate his own age. That's when Maynard, another only kitten, came to live with Cashmere and Jonah. (See Maynard's PetFinder listing). Jonah is now a typical three month-old kitten who loves to play with his brother and be doted on by his mom. Cashmere is an unusually social and outgoing cat; she craves attention and hates to be alone or separated from Jonah.
