  • The Japanese made and sent fu-go into the USA in WW2 , they were lighter than air made of paper and contained explosives, they were ableto fly all the way to the US in the upper atmosphere, a few actually made it here The US made radiosonde targets and sent them up in neoprene balloons called the Mogul project, these types of balloons were widely used even for weather purposes
