You have to remember that this is 1934. It's the midst of the Depression. Germany was the only country that was making any serious progress in getting its people out of the hole. Because of this, Hitler was genuinely seen as a good person. He even made TIME's 'Man of the Year' award because of it. And it wasn't just in Germany that people liked him, the Brits liked him too. That's what made Churchill so unpopular. He was bucking the current trend.

I know that many People will not agree with this, but you must remember the time's the memory of the Great War was still fresh in the memory of Britain.
Many felt in Britain and in America that Hitler was a bulwark against Communism in the Person of Stalin; they were wrong but many went with this course of action a few saw throught the fog of the Nazi's and thank goodness
Churchill was one.

It's unbelievable how ignorant British politicians were to the rearmament of Nazi Germany and her real intentions!

It's a criminal act
But perhaps a necessary one

It must have been disturbing for Wigram to read those reports: remember what Hitler did to people born with cerebral palsy or down syndrome (shuddering)? Little Charlie Wigram would have been in grave danger in Hitler's Germany, terrible danger indeed.

fvckk hitler
It's amazing how so few members of government took Churchill's cautions seriously--and he was right in the end! And while he's considered ready for retirment, he was really just getting ready for the biggest fight of all.

'This country want's peace!'
What they were forgetting is that this wasn't about what Britain wanted, it was about what Germany, what Hitler, wanted.
Appeasment doesn't prevent wars, it makes them inevitable
