Mhm, The N&W RS5-TRF sounds good at the beginning of the video.. That would have been worth filming. Hint Hint ;)

i bet the A4 pacific locomotives 3 chime steam whistle would give that whistle a run for its money

@WMkid thats cool you are luckey to have that horn that is one I have yet to buy I own 2 P5s one off the Southern and the other off the N&W I also have a former Southern M3 off an RS3 and a Santa Fe RS3L I want a RS5T for my truck I may put a K5LA on it from Horn Blasters a new cast or my N&W P5 but I doubt that since I dont want that one stolen if the K5LA comes up missing I just call and order another new cast one but my favorite is the S5T I grew up on the MKT

@gaycowboy31 - I'd know it was an RS5-TRF because it was my horn in the video. lol.

thats my favorite type of whistle but the one's they used on allegany's is my all time favorite.

@WMkid are you sur that was an RS5T it soundslike the sounds I used to hear as a boy railfanning the MKT they used S5T whistles

you video has inspired me to buy a steam whistle. I just got me a lunkenheimer 4 incher, 3 chime. I have the ability to blow this on compressed air, but i really want to blow it on steam. I assume i will need to build a boiler of some type, is there a simple desi gn you can recommend for me?

thats awesome!

@4freespeech steam whistles will sound ALOT better on steam, I have a 3chime hooter I got on ebay 4 years ago or so, my dad blew it on our air compressor and it sound like the hooter that middletown and hummelstown #91 2-6-0 has, but that was on air! who knows what it sounds like on steam. don't forget, steam has a higher pressure than compressed air so thats why steam whistles don't sound good on air.

You can blow steam whistles with compressed air, (even though its sacrilege!),
but they just don't sound the same, do they? Something about the way water
vapor acts or something, anybody got a scientific explanation for it?

The steam was supplied by a steam tractor.

Very nice. Sounds like Heisler 6.

Heisler 6 had a similar Lunkenheimer whistle on her for the 2007 railfan weekend.
