BRO you will like the performer RPM manifold a-lot better trust me. the victor is good but dosn't like to idle when cold or run at low rpms Adam
I got a 1965 gto with a 400 with 390hp stock #16 heads off a 428

couldn't you have done with out the crappy ass music???

@Octobermadness1011 not true about the 7000 rpm limit...
-
stock 400 would get valve float around 5,500rpm Makeing no power above that rpm really. also I know if its specially built some say you could max out a Pontiac made for raceing at 7,000rpm on a Pontiac MAX. Thats a serious engine. Pontiac at 8,000 or especially 9,000 Rpm is not recomendedt its dangerous and probably would blow your engine.

That thing would look sweet with a six shooter on top

@philthyco The bore of a stock 400 Pontiac is 4.1225 and the stroke is 3.75. The 383 stroker is bore 4.03 (.030 over) and the stroke is 3.75. I agree that a stock 400 would not rev to 8900 rpm back in the mid 70's. And if did, it wouldn't be street friendly. There was no after market head available then to flow the amount of air it would take to spin that high. I think the tri-power carbs only flowed 700-800 cfm.

@TRUCKERMcD the stroke is close but not the same and the bore is not close to the 383..the motor your building should be a beast..but this was about doc saying stock 400ci pontiac turn 9000 rpm...
