I'm building a Panel de Pon (AKA "Tetris Attack" or "Pokemon Puzzle Challenge") clone.
This night, at approx. 1:10 AM, it's functional for the first time.
I instantly recorded it and published it to youtube in joy.
BlockPanel is written in Java and will therefore be playable on Linux, Mac and Windows. The most promising feature will be the multiplayer! Can't wait to play the most addicting game ever against others in stead of ultra-hard AI's.
The version shown here is nowhere near the result. I'll create a better (but not great... sorry, i'm not a designer) design once the game is working properly. Also, the mouse-dragging-controls are very, very buggy, but once I got them working correctly, you'll be able to control the game very smoothly and fast for epic multiplayer games!
Before I started coding on the game, I didn't expect mouse-based controls could be faster then a regular console controller, but I turned out to be pretty neat.
Though I will create some "playable" design, I'm not a designer. Also, I don't have any kind of a soundtrack.
Once I got a nice design and soundtrack (any volunteers?) I will consider also porting it to the iPhone.
Not only will this game be playable on Linux, Mac and Windows (and on the iPhone in the future), you're able to play agains players on another environment. In other words: You could play versus friends, family or just a random player, no matter what platform you or the other player is using. (iPhone user vs Windows user, Linux vs Mac etc)
The iPhone version will most likely adapt the mouse-drag-controls so you can drag the blocks with your finger. My only fear is the blocks being drawn too small to "drag" on the iphone screen.
Anyway, if you're interested in the game, you could subscribe to my YT channel or add me on MSN: tobyhinloopen_2 [at] hotmail [dot] com. If you add me on MSN, don't forget to mention you've added me about the game. If you added me on MSN, you're also instantly a beta (or alpha) tester :D
A website will be created later. The desktop version of the game will be free. As long as I haven't finished the iPhone port, the game will be closed source. At the moment I release the iPhone version, the desktop version's Java source will be released under a the Creative Commons by-at license.
If I'm really bored, I may even create a Javascript version with multiplayer support using the HTML5 websockets. The first Panel de Pon game I cloned was actually written in Javascript and did work properly and ran smoothly. (though, no multiplayer; HTML5 didn't exist by then)
I officially love you. :D Now make it not glitchy, though it's been a while apparently.

@violetstarsign some time, i'm going to retry this project. I still want Panel de Pon on my iPhone and beat others.

Nice man. I am also making one. It seems a lot of people have noticed there isn't a decent PC version of this game yet (See "Rise of the Blocks" for example (ugh)). As far as the Iphone is concerned, your competition is pretty steep though.
Rising Blocks is the best Iphone clone in my opinion but has no dedicated multiplayer server:
I'm sure you also know about "Aurora Feint", which is full of bells and whistles.

@benteitler I don't really worry about "competition"; I purely focus to create a multiplayer alternative, just to show off my "coding skillz" and for fun. (and because the game is awesome)
I'm going to recode lots of code since I can't fix the problem of blocks getting behind each other.
