The A Designs MP2A Dual Channel Vacuum Tube Microphone Preamplifier is a wonderfully detailed and open-sounding tube microphone preamp that has a very clean sound, with very subtle tube color, warmth, and three-dimensionality. It is not heavy, colored, or conjested in the mids and low-mids. This makes it a great choice on acoustic instruments including guitar, piano, orchestra, percussion- wherever you are looking for articulation, detail without the heavy, sluggish, and sometimes muddy response you sometimes get from vacuum tubes. This a seriously high-end piece, that should be given a serious listen.

  • PRICE?

  • @saviaselva Ballpark- low $2ks- we don't post prices here because they are subject to change. If you click on the link below this vide, you can get an up-to-date price on this unit, on our website, soundpure(dot)com. If you are interested in a serious, high-end tube preamp, we are glad to discuss this unit, as well as the other options that are out there for you. We'd enjoy helping you through your next upgrade. Don't hesitate to shoot any questions you have to audio@soundpure(dot)com

  • IS IT GOOD FOR VOCALS?

  • @anatol1204 It can be excellent for vocals- it really depends on the type of music that you are doing, the mic that you are pairing it with, and the vocalists sound- guess in that way it's like any great mic pre with a great sound of its own. With the right pairing, it is phenomenol. We'd enjoy learning more about your studio, and helping you select the best possible preamp (and other combinations) for your setup. IF you want, you can e-mail us at audio@soundpure(dot)com and we can help now!

  • The MP-2A is a GREAT mic pre! :-)

  • @billjodi5 The second mic on the left (players right) is positioned over the shoulder pointing downward towards the body of the instrument, creating a very wide and massive sound. If you watch our video on the KM184's, we discuss this positioning specifically. The 184's do a lovely job on classical guitar, and the MP2A has a certain brightness and tube sparkle about it. Obviously you will get the fleshy, warm sound of a Nylon, but acoustically, the transients will sound a lot like this video

  • In your video, every time you showed the Neumanns, we only saw one mic in front. The other mic's you used, were showing the X-Y pattern and both up front. Can you tell us where you put the other KM184? I am recording classical guitars, how do these mic's and this pre work on nylon strings, finger style classical?
