  • Geepereet - We enjoyed watching this video. The last Curtis Mayfield Band (1990's) has reunited in order to play tribute concerts. Stay tuned for their touring information as it becomes available.

  • Thanks Henry, keep me updated please.

  • It is impossible that this was in 1991. He paralyzed fully in august 1990

  • I'll check it out asap

  • There is very little in this world I love more than Curtis Mayfield, and very little I hate more than synth horns.

  • This song gave me hope in the most hopeless of times.

  • My Band - "Hit the Roof!" played this in the Ballroom at Butlins Bognor Regis 1994-5-6 - it was my faveourite piece of music - the rhythm is utterly sick, amn!

  • Magnifique

  • Curtis Mayfield died in the early morning of December 26, 1999 at the North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell, Georgia, after nearly a decade of ill-health. He was survived by his wife, Altheida, 10 children, his mother, 3 sisters a brother, and 7 grandchildren. The singer was cremated, and his ashes were given to his family.

  • Mayfield was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 1999. Health reasons prevented him from attending the ceremony, which included fellow inductees Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Dusty Springfield, George Martin, and 1970s Curtom signee and labelmate The Staple Singers. His last appearance on record was with the group Bran Van 3000 on the song "Astounded" for their album Discosis, recorded just before his death and released in 2001.

  • On Aug 13, 1990, Curtis was paralyzed from the neck down after stage lighting equipment fell on him at an outdoor concert at Wingate Field in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York. He was unable to play guitar, but he wrote sang and directed the recording of his last album, New World Order. Curtis' vocals were recorded line-by-line while lying on his back. Curtis received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995. In February, 1998, he had to have his right leg amputated due to diabetes.

  • where are the trumpet or sax or that thing :(

  • this is definitely a later performance, but it had to be before 1991; curtis was paralyzed from the neck down in 1990 and couldn't play guitar anymore

  • che musica splendida altro che le vaccate che danno a sanremo..grazie a chi ha caricato il video 5 stelle!
