Clorox makes light in a water bottle

People, it's just a skylight with the water-filled bottle acting as a sort of lens to gather and then disperse the sunlight. The bleach is just preventing the growth of micro-organisms to keep the water clear so it can transmit the light. Look up "light tube" on Wikipedia. This is not a hoax but a great form of low-tech engineering accessible to poor people all over the planet. In many poor countries electricity is quite unreliable and very expensive unlike rich countries where it's cheap..

It's only a low-tech skylight! The water just deflects the sun's rays (light) into the bottle's inner area. There is NO electricity whatsoever! The 'meters' they use measures "lumen" (unit of light), not electricity!
The bleach is just to keep bacteria from growing in the water and the film cartridge is to protect the cap from the sun's rays.
The original clip stated the light is equivalent to a 50 watt bulb.... I see it has been elevated to "60"wats! ;-|

@RonRay global warming...lol...3 yrs from now, it'll be a 70 watt sunlightbulb!

@Vimana1972 its nothing at all like this; its not about a luminous chemical reaction at all.....he puts bleach into the bottles to prevent microbe growth which would lower the efficiency of the bottles, cause gas buildup, and would require maintenance to remove--thats all

Bottle works like fiber optic light transmitter. In Codelco Chile a friend use fiber optic to energy saving lighting in bedrooms. Fiber optic is too more expensive material than disposable polycarbyde bottles with NaCl used like byocide. Good and a penny save idea Mr.

You are so mean to the people that don't get this!

its actually bleach but whatever.

haha, This is so basic. Its not a hoax.
I've been playing around with others things and experiments, and have never tried if this really works. Fiskking says it does, but did you actually try? You say you need cathode and anode as in common batteries, but why in the video you see only a plastic bottle filled with what is claimed to be the Clorox solution? Please make me understand better, I want to try it too!
