The Perito Moreno Glacier is a glacier located in the Los Glaciares National Park in the south west of Santa Cruz province, Argentina. It is one of the most important tourist attractions in the Argentine Patagonia.

The 250 km² ice formation, of 30 km in length, is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field located in the Andes system shared with Chile. This icefield is the world's third largest reserve of fresh water.

  • This is actually not related to global warming at all, the glacier is actually one of the few in Argentina that is advancing and this video depicts what happened when the glacier reached the far side of the lake (as it does periodically), which caused a build up of pressure on one side and then eventually this "plug" ruptured allowing water to flow once more which is what you're seeing here. THAT is why the people are cheering.

  • thats a preddy good example of what global warming does to Mother Earth..

  • Ahem. Nacexc is actually correct. This is the Perito Moreno glaciers terminal face breaking up after it advanced and blocked the flow from one lake arm to the other. It is not the first time it has happened, look at the video on right called perito moreno-the politically incorrect glacier

  • ... why they get rejoice, when you can see the earth breaking down.

  • global warming my dick, it doesnt exist you fuckers, this is just part of earth goin tru some shit, next winter this ice will be back hard again like my dick. hard like my dick

  • el planeta se nos escapa de las mano esta hablando por si solo,

  • hola.....me enanto tu video.....es una belleza ojala algun dia pueda ira verlo personalmente...

  • nacexc: No its not natural, unless global warming is natural. Same happens in the alps. If you look at google earth and follow the traces the entire glacier (not only perito but also his neighbors) has left on the ground some 400 years ago, you'll see how little is left today and it shrinks by 10% a year.

  • This is not global warming. Its natural. This the Perito Moreno glaciar in Argentina. The glaciar is between two connected lakes. The glaciar is on continuesly growth. The cave you see is where the glaciar blocks the path of water from one lake to another when it groes. When its block, the water level in one lake rises. The water pressure of that lake causes the glaciar to collapse. After 4 it grows back.

  • what is bush's fault is the censorship of his scientific advisors, not glacier movement!
