In this second video of the How To series I walk you through creating the tool path for this part using BobCAD v24. There will be additional videos covering mounting and cutting the part. Be sure to subscribe to follow the entire process start to finish.

  • good video I use bobcad it is a easy program to use I'm looking forward to seeing you next video I enjoy your videos thanks for the time you take making them.

  • @797Ftruck Thanks!

  • Ok at 7:50 front view you show the toolpath plunging down

to make the cut then spiral down to finish the cut. But the cut actually starts at z level

in bobcad shouldn't you set your Z height to .125 above the z plane. Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks for the vids.

  • @lophole7 You could. In the video I mentioned that since this part is 2d and I would set my zero off the surface of the stock that the depth would then be handled by the way I tool pathed it so it's really a wash. But you are correct....It would have been less confusing if the wireframe was on zero.

  • i was sceaming at you that you had it backwards, but you found it anyway. good stuff.

  • @kurtnelle LOL....

  • thanks for the videos. i was wondering if you had any advice on a program i'm trying to write with bobcad. using "pocketing" in bobcad i'm having a problem understanding how to make and undercut on the counter bore of a drill hole. it's an 8th off the top of the CB slotting a larger dia and i'm using a saw/key way cutter to size for depth. so my main issue is getting the right calculation for the circular interpolation(x,y,i,j) when plunging the tool into the center of the part. thanks.

  • Sorry!! For the post below I didn't catch the first part of the video correctly.

  • I use a really old version of Bobcad I got Pre-2002. Use it to post code to a FANUC 15M control on a VMC. Runs great! Try doing DNC work. It's a trick to get it to work. Seeing this makes me want the latest version.

  • Nice job!!

  • Thanks

  • great videos thanks for posting them
