The crusades started after Muslims had attacked/taken Jerusalem, Egypt, Italy, Constantinople, Spain, France & Rome. So after centuries of 1000s of church burnings, 1000s of killings, 1000s of enslavements, 1000s of rapes, including many nuns & 1000s of forced conversions, Christians were finally fed up. European Christians had been harassed by Muslims since the 1st few yrs following Muhammads death & had turned their cheek 4 many years

The first Crusade began in 1095, 460 years after the 1st Christian city was overrun by Muslim armies, 457 yrs after Jerusalem was conquered by Muslim armies, 453 yrs after Egypt was taken by Muslim armies, 443 after Muslims 1st plundered Italy, 427 yrs after Muslim armies first laid siege 2 the Christian capital of Constantinople, 380 yrs after Spain was conquered by Muslim armies, 363 yrs after France was 1st attacked by Muslim armies, 249 years after Rome itself was sacked by a Muslim army
