Five Fold Pork Dumplings

1 package dumpling dough

½ pound ground pork

1-tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1-teaspoon ground cumin

1-teaspoon fennel seed

4 chopped small portabella mushrooms

2 chopped green onions

Extra virgin olive oil

In a mixing bowl place the sauces, seasoning, chopped mushrooms, green onions and ground pork. Mix well. Make small 2 teaspoon balls out of the mixture - it should make about 3 dozen balls. Once they are all made, place in the refrigerator for an hour to allow the flavors to mix and the balls to become firm.

Once your pork mixture is ready begin working with the dough, wet the edges of the round pieces of dough and fold in five small pleats on one side. Place the filling in the pocket formed by the dough and pull the bottom over the filling, sealing the edges of the dumpling.

In a skillet place 2 table spoons of extra virgin olive oil turn to a high heat. Once the oil is heated put the dumplings in the skillet and cook for a few minutes. Once the dumplings are cooked on the bottom, add ¼ of a cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid allow to steam for 6 minutes. Serve hot.

  • Can you substitute soy sauce for the Worcestershire?
