WOW......I AM IMPRESSED....THIS IS JUST AMAZING AND EXACTLY WHAT I NEED. I LIVE IN MONTANA SO MY PARROTS WOULD GET MAYBE A HALF A YR USE OUT OF IT AS WE HAVE SOME BAD WINTERS HERE. THANKS FOR SHARING....I JUST MIGHT HAVE TO SHOW THIS TO MY DAD...IVE BEEN TALKIN ABOUT HIRING HIM TO BUILD ME SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR MY 35 PARROTS THAT IVE RESCUED OVER THE YRS....I WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO FLY, CLIMB, TAKE A BATH WHEN THEY WANT AND LIVE THE HAPPIEST LIFE POSSIBLE....

Complete overkill on the foundations; 16" would support a house!!!! Maybe shares in the concrete and steel re-bar comapanies?? :)
4" - 6" would be more than ample.

Nice work. Keeping them happy is the trick to being a good owner.

I like your yard. It reminds me of a bird zoo! The water fountain, is a nice touch. I have zebra finches in a large cage that is outside in the yard. I live in Hawaii, so the weather is not severe. I got my zebras's to come and go as they please. They are trained to fly out of the cage and enter when they want. If you want to take a look, go to Hawaiidoves, and search for zebra finch. I have several videos of the birds. Keep up the great zoo !

Omg I am so happy I watched this video, what a beautiful job... I wish I could have space to build an aviary, I don't have macaws only one sun conure and one budgie, but I wanted to build even if it was a small one but I live in NJ and I have no back yard :(
I am about to build one for my birds, your look very pleased with their new digs.

what materials did you use for the walls? where was it purchased?

@TKart326 I will get the name of the place in San Diego the cage came from. It is a professional cage. The walls are made from 1/2" X 3" GAW wire that is strong enough for even the worst chewers. It has aluminum 1" square tubing that goes up the sides and along the top that helps with the support and the metal roof up top. It is my understanding the gaw wire is only made in England and that explanes the hi prices when buying the stuff. The sides are actually a 7' and 3' tall piece stacked

Okay the place the flight was purchased from is KW CAGES. Here is the link you may need to copy and paste. A cage like mine is a custom and will cost around $2,500 today in 2011. Check out their online store... clover.forest.net/kwcages/index.html

u keep the bird outside in winter time?
THE1V 1 year ago
@THE1V I do however feel bad sometimes when it is very cold (teens). Most of my outdoor cages are protected from the element's such as the wind/rain. As you can see this huge flight/aviary is not. It is very open to the elements. Right now as I am writing this the flight cage is empty and clean. I can place a few in it on nice days but bring them back inside at night or when its chilly. Right now I have five sets of birds outside that will stay there year around. I live in Southern California
