i recently participated in a egg drop at my school and all i did was carve a block of Styrofoam into a ball and i made a crevice in the ball and then i extracted the Styrofoam from the crevice and cut enough on the bottom to make a lid to secure the lid i used rubber bands.
It'' probably drop but it might break. Man, If it dosent drop and just floats there, thats a pretty awesome egg.
