Swanage Railway Special 4th May 2009

Video taken at footpath crossing near Furzebrook. Is also another video taken from a different angle but my computer seems to be refusing to load that one up at the moment! :( Anyway, bit of information taken from Swanage Railway website:

On Monday 4th May 2009, a second special, 'The Royal Wessex', will run diesel-hauled from London via the same route and return to London Waterloo again hauled by 34067 Tangmere.

The last steam passenger train from London to Swanage ran from Waterloo on Sunday June 18th 1967. This was an RCTS twelve-car special hauled by rebuilt Battle of Britain 34089 602 Squadron and tailed by a Standard Class 4 tank, 80146.

34067 Tangmere came tantalisingly close to Swanage on 6th December 2003 hauling 'The Royal Wessex' special excursion from Wareham to London Waterloo.

Battle of Britain class 34070 Manston is currently in operational service at Swanage, and Herston Works will be open for visits on 2nd and 4th May, where visitors will be able to see two other Battle of Britain classmates 34072 257 Squadron and 34053 Sir Keith Park - named in honour of Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Rodney Park GCB, KBE, MC & Bar, DFC, RAF (15 June 1892 - 6 February 1975) who was in tactical command during the Battle of Britain.

34067 Tangmere's arrval will mean four Battle of Britain locomotives in Swanage at the same time!
