This is a great song,,written by Raymond Crooke,,,,,Im a great Bob Dylan lover and this song remind me so much of Dylan,,its a great song both in lyriccs and melody,,i really love this song,,so I asked permission to cover this one,,,my version is not as good as the original but I hope someone find it good enough to listen to it,,my version is more like a Dylan version,,,I hope someone out there enjoy this one too
Well, you said you'd be kind,
But you tortured my mind.
I tried to stay with you
But you left me behind.
You cut open my life
With the point of your knife
And expect me to deal with
Your trouble and strife.
...And the next time we meet
...Revenge will be sweet.
...There'll be tears in the gutter
...And blood on the street.
Yes, we tried once again
But you caused me such pain
That the sweetness between us
Just flowed down the drain,
And I stood by your side
When you chose your new bride.
You can lie and deny --
But I know how she died.
When your time comes at last
And the final stone's cast
You can't jump the freight train
'Cause it's moving too fast.
So you'll have no more time
To wash off the grime.
I will always regret
We were partners in crime.
You made the wise men fall,
Made them stand at the wall.
Then you raised up your rifles
And you murdered them all.
And the blood of our sons
Down the battlement runs.
You can hide in the alley
But you can't hide your guns.
Great rendition, Roger. I like this very much. Thanks for covering it.
