Now, do you screw on the lids tight before putting them in? I have heard that it may produce excessive pressure in the jars.

Nice work. Your cooker is almost as big as you.

Excellent review. Thank you. I'm finding pint jars fit my needs. I can "can" more at a time and I can eat their contents in a couple meals.
Best of life to you and your family always, and in 2012.

How long does the food stay perserved?

@DosRemolinos It depends on what you are canning, but most things will last for several years.

Yes, screw the lid on well. Don't overexert yourself trying to tighten the lid, but if you leave it too loose, it won't seal. Just screw it on until it's on there good :)

@ariesseeks1 Glad I could help! Now... if only I could convince All American to kick me down some commission, lol!

There are reusable lids/gaskets that work quite well. I saw about the same amount of failures compared to the single use, metal lids when my room mate canned using them.

@wedgy84 Yep!! You're absolutely right. They're called Tattlers. I have several dozen of them, and LOVE that they save me money by being reusable :)
