I revealingly tabbed out each and every note that is played on this song by the original bass player in the band. A live play-along tab is in view on the bottom throughout the track.

It's 4:15 PM 11/02/2010. It's the Midterm Election Day! I did not register to vote in time, so I cannot help the Republican ticket like I'd want. I live in Metro-Detroit, Michigan, and we are a flip-floppy state politically sometimes. Mostly we are Democratic. That's unfortunate, but the medical marijuana got passed here in Michigan two years ago, and I am in favor of that. I knew a kid with Leukemia that got no better pain relief than from his medical marijuana. I would never do drugs, and I have never done them or had alcohol. I am intrigued about the gray areas about them though. Proverbs 31:6-7 I believe talks about giving strong drink to the guy in trouble while avoiding it yourself as you are in your good place. That reminds me of anti-psychotic drugs that psychiatrists prescribe to "calm down" "bad" traits in people. Doesn't getting a little drunk do that too? Idk. I think that losing control is sinful. We are always accountable for our actions.

I used the eleventh take for the video. I had a bad argument with someone yesterday, so I had a weird night last night. I actually slept at the right-ish time. It's funny that the thing that would keep me up actually let me fall asleep. hahaha. I woke up at 3:00 AM-ish, and an AMAZING Election Day episode of Red Eye was on Fox News Channel—muy bien!

I wasn't perfect on the take I used, but I held a decent tempo, and I had better tone than previous takes. I really tried to control my velocity (how hard I hit the strings), because that was something I got annoyed watching when reviewing each take.

Please pray for me. I am trying out for a semi-touring worship band tonight at 5:30 PM. I sorta remember the first two songs I need to know. I haven't tabbed out the last one or even practiced it. I did listen to it. I hope they will have chord charts there at that church.

I also have another person I'm soon hopefully gonna jam (worship?) with.

I learned this song for Shawn P., my good friend at our church. He's a bass-prodigy & a music-prodigy & awesome. I'm also playing this song Wednesday and Sunday. It was the main song at our LSM ""Momentum" Fall Retreat this past weekend.

Lyrics (Source — http://www.metrolyrics.com/rise-and-sing-lyrics-fee.html ):

Whoooaaaaa
If you're alive and you've been redeemed, rise & sing, rise & sing.
If you've been touched by the mercy king, rise & sing, rise & sing.
Whoooaaaaa

If you were bound but now you're free, rise & sing, rise & sing.
Lift up a shout of victory, rise & sing, rise & sing.
Whoooaaaaa

Our God is risen and reigning and we're elevating the glory of our God and King, everybody rise & sing. Whoooaaaaa

If in your heart rings a melody, rise & sing, rise & sing.

If you have tasted and you have seen, rise & sing, rise & sing.

Our God is risen and reigning and we're elevating the glory of our God and King, everybody rise & sing. Whoooaaaaa

Let the redeemed of the Lord sing hallelujah, hallelujah.
Let the redeemed of the Lord sing our God reigns, our God reigns.

Our God is risen and reigning and we're elevating the glory of our God and King, everybody rise & sing. Whoooaaaaa

  • @bass62player — Do you have a 1962 bass? Are you 62? I wish I could play with my fingers. That would add a whole new sound too! Thanks for your appreciation! I am so fulfilled by your words. I am glad the song worked out better for you! I just posted a new video for the Hillsong United mega-hit, "Salvation Is Here." Check it out. Learn the bridge solo. I always said that learning the solo (at full speed) would evidence that I mastered the bass guitar. It's better in finger-style anyways.

  • @smoon3 — I'll take your word for it. Good catch. Duly noted.

  • @trabenfan001 — I can't send you the tab, but you can watch the video and write down the tab as it goes along. Let me know how that works out! Thanks! I hope your church plays the song. It is a very good song!

  • @zazazsu — You are correct! ;p Why would you think it was not a Christian song? :p

  • @zazazsu — Tell me if you think it is or not.

  • @BassIsAwesome16 — I like pop / punk a lot too. Yes. I just posted a new video for the Christmas song, "My Soul Magnifies The Lord," by Chris Tomlin. I just posted it less than an hour ago. Check it out! I also am right now learning an EPIC Christmas song on bass for my last Christmas song of 2010. It'll be a hit in 2011 for next Christmas. Stay tuned for that!

  • This is great man!!!! My dream is to one day play in my church band and things like these tabs are helping me get better :) hopefully soon I can reach my dreams!!!!

  • @overcometheidiots i totally thought this song was in B. The last "sing" ends on a B. I didnt know you could end a song on the 5 chord.

    -Confused

  • good job

  • Hey, thanks so much for the tab and lesson on playing this one!

We did it at church this past weekend and I felt more comfortable on it than in the past.

I'm playing a 5 string so I changed some of the tab to cheat using the low B and keep some of the findering in the same place.

Wish I could play with a pick, really adds a new sound.

    Thanks again!

  • @smoon3 also your tab @ 1:08 is incorrect for the 6->7. Should be on the A string not D.
