My first video of 2011 started off pretty well for me. I decided to get some fresh air at Edmonds after I had a break from my class schedule and catch a few trains. Train traffic was not too bad at all for staying in town for about an hour. The first train that I saw was Amtrak Cascades Train #513, which actually resumed service today after a mudslide at White Rock, BC has suspended operations from Saturday through Monday. This train would make a station stop at the Edmonds Station behind me.

As Train #513 cleared out, I spotted a BNSF Z-CHCSSE Train coming out of Mukilteo from the distance. With my Telephoto zoom, I zoomed in the train with Mt. Baker dominating Mukilteo. As the train got closer, I realized that it was an Ex-BN SD70MAC on the point with the 4 GE Dash 9s behind it. It was a good break to see EMD power leading it then seeing the typical GE Units leading. As the Z train came into view at MP 18, the engineer gave me a few toots on the horn and this unit still have the BN-era Flashing Ditch Lights. Something that is rare on a Ex-BN SD70MAC these days.

After the Z Train went by, I was just about to call it the morning and was about to leave my parking spot when I heard from the radio that there was a Eastbounder from the other side of town getting permission to go through the Form B Restriction. So I stumbled out of the car to set up again, and sure enough, a Eastbound Empty Grainer rolls through town with good pace. This train would be soon heading east over Stevens Pass.

And with that, that pretty much concluded my brief morning railfan. Enjoy the video.
